Based out of Fortuna, California, Back in Balance Horseshoeing is owned and operated by Erica Canevari, a professional farrier. Back in Balance Horseshoeing has been in business since 2009.
Erica has been a life-long horse lover. From a young age she knew that horses would be a large part of her life. In the Spring of 2009 she attended a hoof clinic taught by Gene Ovnicek, by the second day of the hoof clinic she knew horseshoeing was her calling. She began researching schools and interviewing instructors over the phone. After one conversation with Mark Plumlee, owner and instructor at Mission Farrier School she knew it was the right place to begin her journey.

| Erica attended the fall class at Mission Farrier School in 2009. There she received the highest possible quality of hoof science and farrier education. She returned home to Humboldt County, California and began her career.
Erica has lived in Humboldt County since she was a child, and frequently enjoys the local scenery by horseback. You've probably seen her on the trail. She has been riding horses since the age of 10, when she began paying for lessons by cleaning stalls. Her favorite riding places are Cuneo Creek horse camp and the beautiful local beaches. She is also a member of our local Back Country Horsemen of California's Redwood Unit, and is editor of the unit's newsletter. She has served as an officer for the Redwood Unit in the past. |
